These LED paper lanterns are very customizable, you can use any size or type of paper and print any graphic on it. You could even draw on the paper, or better yet have your kids drawings light up.
These can go on a flat surface or be placed on a wall. Great for events, dinners, parties, weddings, or children's crafts.
The magnets are used to hold the LED in place as well as attach the lantern to a metal surface. You can substitute tape in place if you are not using magnets.
Find a work surface and prepare your lantern parts:
- 2 Rare Earth Magnets
- 1 3V Through-hole LED - any color or type
- 1 Peice of paper
- 1 CR2032 Coin Cell Battery
- Tape
Step 1: Tape Magnets To Paper
Tape the 10mm magnets to your paper so that the magnet is centered on the edge of the sheet.
Step 2: Taping The Paper
Roll up the sheet and carefully match the edges, then stick the tape onto the rolled edge of the sheet.
Tape the seam in the middle of the lantern.
Step 3: Lighting Up The LED
Slide the LED onto the battery to light it up.
You can also use tape to hold it in place.
Step 4: Placing The LED Inside Lantern
Put the LED and battery into the lantern, make sure the LED is shining towards the top of the lantern.
The magnet will hold the LED in place.
If you aren't using magnets, use tape to hold the light in place.
Step 5: Admire Your Lantern
It will be bright for 2-3 days, then slowly fade and stay lit for about 5 more days.
You can also use synthetic paper, which is more durable and is waterproof.
You can reuse your LED and lantern forever, your batteries can be brought to any electronics store to be recycled.
